All About Integers

Image
We will be starting a new unit in math on positive and negative integers. Students will identify how negative numbers are used in real world scenarios (temperature, credits/debits, elevation above/below sea level). We will also be learning how to identify and plot rational numbers (positive and negative whole numbers, decimals and fractions) on a number line. Finally, students will learn how to identify and plot ordered pairs on the coordinate plane. Negative numbers can be a difficult concept for students to master but I know we're up to the challenge!

Howell Wetlands Field Trip

As we wrap up our unit on ecology and photosynthesis, we will be taking a field trip to Howell Wetlands. We have a custom program created for us that will address many of the 6th grade science standards that we've been studying in class this first grading period. Among the activities planned, is a half hour nature hike where we hope to see a diversity of wildlife. Students are sure to enjoy this core experience field trip with many hands-on learning activities planned. For more information, please visit the Howell Wetlands website: http://www.wesselmannaturesociety.org/wetlands/
